The Common Wealth Food Incubator

The Common Wealth Kitchen Incubator is a shared-use commercial kitchen in Youngstown that aims to lower the cost for starting or expanding local food businesses. We aim to help folks create jobs working with food we love and helping NE Ohio create food security and promote economic development. Farmers Market Nutrition Program Women, Infants, and Children (WIC):

The HFM has partnered with the Ohio Department of Health and the WIC Program to accept WIC coupons. Only vendors selling fresh fruits and vegetables can accept WIC coupons.

Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP):

SFMNP coupons can be accepted by pre-approved farms to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables, fresh herbs, and honey.

SNAP/EBT:

The HFM accepts SNAP (EBT/food stamps). All farmers and producers with qualifying products are required to participate, and SNAP customers will use their Ohio Direction card at the HFM information table to access tokens to shop with. The tokens are in $1 and $5 increments. The tokens can be spent by customers at each individual stall for eligible items.

Fruit and Vegetable Rx:

This Mercy Health program was established to help diabetic patients control and manage their condition to drive down healthcare costs and to help patients live healthier lives. Participants complete a seven week class about nutrition and diabetes management at Mercy Health. Doctors write a prescription for fruit and vegetable vouchers for this program as they would for any medication.
